Role of Ethics in AI

AI is the acronym for Artificial Intelligence.

AI refers to the computational processes and algorithms that incorporates human attributes in machines.

Ethical Issues that need to be addressed in order to frame a clean and correct AI are as follows – (there can be many more)

  1. Data Scientists and software engineers have biases like any other human beings and those biases can reflect in the programming they do thereby corrupting the AI. Suitable Committees should be made by the organisations that will review the entire process that would result in making an AI-based product/service free of any bias and commensurate with excellence in every aspect.
  2. AI systems that are being designed today are restricted in terms of agencies; that is to say, the choice of options is very less for the end-user. Choices of alternate options make the end-users feel confident and satisfied. So there has to be a governance committee that will look into the aspect of maximizing agencies available t the end user.

These drawbacks can be eliminated by following the below-mentioned steps in the respective order-

  1. Introduce governance in business as that will enhance strategic value of the business.
  2. Make a comprehensive list of all the biases that have occurred and their particulars.
  3. Suggest and execute a course of action to eliminate the shortcomings form AI.
