Demarketing : –

Demarketing is made to discourage consumers from buying that product it is used in strategies like: –

  • Raising prices.
  • Reducing advertising.
  • Promotion activities.
  • Eliminating activities.

Demarketing doesn’t mean to destroy the demand but to produce the product.

Biggest example for DE marketing product is Cigarette to lower its demand of that product from market as they advertise their product by “Smoking causes cancer & it is ingenious to health” so they cannot give a positive advertisement for this type of product. As per the scenario, many countries do allow consumption of tobacco for under age specially as per the ethics it is against the law & health because it is an illegal practice. But the tobacco companies are selling their product with different advertisement strategies:

  • Poster & Banners.
  • Point of Selling.
  • Free Samples.
  • Survey.
