Online world Traffic policing: There are 2.41 billion Facebook users, 330 million Twitter users, and 1 billion Instagram users.
As we go on with our online lives, Information traffic control is becoming a big job for networking companies.
The thing is currently in a span of 30 days, more videos get uploaded to the internet than what the US had done in roughly the last 30 years!
So natural concern suggests we cannot let everything flow freely and reach every internet user. So arises the question of online policing.
There can be many harmful videos, videos that instigate violence etc being uploaded – so we need to monitor and regulate the content.
In the words of A.G.Gardiner- we can walk on roads but that does not mean we can hold the traffic just because we want to walk in the middle of the road.
Liberty is a social contract for all of us.
Can terrorists be using the internet to further their malicious agenda and realize their plans? YES. In order to prevent that and protect ourselves and our fellow beings from being drawn into the destruction- we have to, if need be, curtail the liberty-freedom of the few for the many.
However, if we are in the clear, we are not to be afraid of being unjustly harassed.
Not only terrorists, but social media is a place where also many of us blurt out things that have unpleasant ramifications for the just.
Such activities have to be eliminated for the better.
Now, the question is how to achieve this sanctity in social media?
For a fact check- every minute 80 hours of video content gets uploaded on YouTube. In this case, YouTube owner Google has some kind of mechanism to review the legality of the contents. But this is limited to Google only and Google’s idea itself.
Whatever the case – nobody has the right to do illegal and harmful things on the internet.
